Pero no. Me dijo, "you're no longer welcome in this apartment".
From the first exchanges I had with Ruben, I realized he was very funny. We wrote in English but he used the English of the youth such as "see u 2morrow" indicating how well he had mastered English.
Ruben is an agriculture engineer and genetically modifies potatoes so that fields can be used most efficiently. He is also a painter and his works were hung around his apartment and ohmahgah they were so impressive. Although he's always busy, he cooks from time to time because he attended a culinary school. He was very patient with me and was a wonderful teacher running around the kitchen while chatting with me.
My favorite moment was when we were eating and I asked what type of music he liked and he suddenly stood up because he wanted to show me something important. He brought a CD with a photo of a singer, and when I said I did not recognize him, he scolded me in English, "How are you American?" Hahaha it was Bruce Springsteen and I have no shame in admitting that before I met Rubén I've never heard him. Ruben put "Born in the USA" with the hope that perhaps by hearing a song, I would realize the error of my ways. But no. I liked his album "The Ghost of Tom Joad" because it does not sound like his other albums (hahaha).
Rubén lives with his boyfriend and if you are cynical about love, this couple destroys any doubts you may have. Mariano is a teacher in a secondary school for adults who had (or still have) problems with drugs, alcohol, etc. I asked why he continued being a teacher when it was clear that his work tired him out. He told me about the role teachers have in helping a student realize that he/she is important even if others might tell them that they are useless. Mariano cares a lot about his students and always makes sure that their lives at home are fine. On weekends, he is a storyteller of tales of love and nostalgia in a library and he does it so well that sometimes people really believe the story happened to him.
To conclude, they are my favorite !!
Not great quality but photos of the grand view from the balcony.)
