When I was a child, I had a dream that my family and the families of my aunts (the Martinez's and Brito's) could buy a building and each family could live in an apartment. That way, we could all go into each other's homes without notice and always be together in an eternal party. Well, the family Rivera Alvarado is living my childhood dream. It is a building of pure fun on every floor. It still makes me laugh remembering the time I was watching TV and suddenly Dany came in with a procession of 12 people. It was the day that Aunt Nelly arrived from Princeton and all the family wanted to get together (I still don't understand how it was possible to cook more than 15 plates of food in 10 minutes ... but that's the secret of a professional mother)
Like all big families, there is never a quiet moment in the house, but if I'm being completely honest, that's the way I like it. Every time you have to take a picture, someone is always missing (in this case more than 5 people) and the rest of the family is trying to figure out the best way to organize themselves. I must say, taking a picture, like many other aspects of life with a big family, is never easy but it's also never boring (at least for the photographer that can see everything that is happening behind the camera).
In the end, I took a picture representing the family as I see them: very cheerful. I would like to talk about each individual and the things they have said / done that make me laugh even now that I'm writing, but I'm behind on annotating recipes since I'm in Peru already (whoops). Just know that they are all wonderful and funny and I admire them all for what they are and for making me feel welcome. Hopefully one day we'll meet again!
